La caracter\u00edstica diferencial con respecto a las centrales t\u00e9rmicas o hidr\u00e1ulicas es el combustible utilizado, el uranio, y la forma de producci\u00f3n de calor, la fisi\u00f3n nuclear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"normal\">En ocasiones, las explicaciones y los t\u00e9rminos t\u00e9cnicos son complicados. Sin embargo, entender c\u00f3mo se produce la energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica en Santa Mar\u00eda de Garo\u00f1a es relativamente sencillo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Existe un recipiente o vasija donde el uranio, mediante fisi\u00f3n nuclear, produce calor que se utiliza para calentar agua hasta convertirla en vapor. Ese vapor es transportado por unas tuber\u00edas y llega a una turbina donde transforma su energ\u00eda calor\u00edfica en energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica (movimiento o fuerza) y se condensa. Esa energ\u00eda de la turbina mueve un generador de 466.000 kWh. de potencia. Un conjunto de tubos, refrigerados por agua del r\u00edo Ebro, finaliza la condensaci\u00f3n del vapor. Al mismo tiempo, unas moto-bombas de alimentaci\u00f3n devuelven a la vasija el agua previamente calentada por unos calentadores que mejoran el rendimiento t\u00e9rmico del ciclo para la producci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica.
